Banner ads - Advice please
« on: December 21, 2005, 09:42:15 PM »

I wanted to start selling banner ads on my blog. Is there a "standard" size for horizontal ads that is most commonly used? I'd love some general advice on the whole process too.

Most all ad networks use the standard IAB ad formats. Which one you want to use is typically determined by where you want to place the ad on your blog and also by your conversion goals.

The most commonly used ads are Google Adsense. Chitika is a newer company that has a different ad type that typically leads to high conversion rates.

If you want to add one of these as a component to your blog, you can use our new component code generator to get the code you'd need. See the Chitika ads on the left column of Hail the Ale! for an example of what this looks like.

If you want to integrate the ads into your articles or categories, you'll need to customize the appropriate template and place the ad code where you want it to appear.
