Google Calendar is a nice, free browser-based calendar system. It allows you to export your list of events in many formats including RSS. This HOWTO shows you how you can show your calendar events on your Blogzerk blog using the RSS Headline feature.
Create a Calendar
If you haven't already, create a Google account or log in to your account and go to the Google Calendar home page. You will be walked through the steps to create your calendar.
Get Your Calendar's RSS URL
To get the RSS URL that you'll use in the RSS Headline component, click the dropdown arrow to the right of your calendar in the Calendars box at the left of the Google Calendar page. Choose the option for Calendar Settings.
In the settings screen, you'll see an area at the bottom with your Private Address links. Use your browser's feature for copying the URL of a link on the orange XML icon (typically right-click on it and choose the option to copy the link address). Note that you don't want to copy the URL of the image itself, but the link that it goes to.
Create an RSS Headline Component
Log in to your blog's control panel and choose Favorites and then RSS Headline Components. Paste the link you copied into the Feed URL input box. If you copied this correctly, it should look something like http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/you@example.com/private-0d5b6d83b6a9f9b1c1e5c108ed7dc535/basic with you@example.com replaced with your Google login ID and a random string after private-.
Save your component and add it to your blog's layout using the link provided. IMPORTANT: You must add this to your layout before the feed will be processed and show as updated in the control panel.
It may take up to 30 minutes for the component to appear on your blog. Once it does, you'll se a list of your calendar entries and clicking on an entry will take you to your Google Calendar page for that entry.
